THE TEAM
OWNER AND FOUNDER
Jacob Hudson
Jacob Hudson has always had a passion for sports and when he hit his teenage years he found a love for weightlifting. He knew he wanted to own a gym once he finished college athletics.
After being introduced to CrossFit by his brother-in-law, he immediately fell in love as so many of us do and dove head first into taking the necessary courses to become an affiliate. With a humble beginning in his garage and free memberships, Jake honed his teaching cues and workout philosophies on his family, roommates, and even curious strangers that saw into his garage! In 2013 he opened Pike Road CrossFit in the small, but growing town of Pike Road, Alabama in a warehouse off the beaten path. As our gym community and the Pike Road community around us grew, we knew it was time to grow with it. 2016 brought about huge changes as we built a new facility and expanded our abilities to build healthy people by adding Bootcamp to our class offerings. Since then, we have continued striving to help people find a community that takes them in and encourages them toward their fitness goals. Our goal at Rebar Performance is to be discussed in terms of a ministry to others-spiritually, mentally, and physically – rather than just a gym. For 13 years we have accomplished this and our drive to continue to affect our community is higher than its ever been. Rebar Performance is looking forward to what the future holds. Don’t miss an opportunity to be a part of this special community.
COACH
Matt Dickson
Montgomery has always been home for me. I graduated from St. James much longer ago than I would care to admit. My wife Angela is a teacher at Alabama Christian Academy and our son is currently in school at the University of Alabama.
Theater was my first love. Angela and I both have acted, sang, danced or directed on just about every stage in this town. I even spent 14 years working in the shop at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. I have always loved to play. I’ve played football, basketball, rugby, ran track, beach volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf. If it’s played in the south, I’ve tried it. I’ve run a half marathon, done a number of triathlons and adventure races. I even have a black belt in taekwondo and a blue belt in Jiu jitsu. With most of the sports in my adult life, I came across them on TV. It looked like fun so I’d give it a try. That’s how I found Crossfit. Watching Rich Froning on ESPN competing in the 2013 Reebok Crossfit Games. I thought, “Wow! That looks insane! Where do I sign up!” With every other activity, I’ve had a short attention span. I’d check the box and move on looking for something else to conquer. Crossfit has been a game changer. The constantly varied nature of the programming means you’ll never “master” crossfit. There’s always something new to learn. Something to improve on. But the real reason Crossfit has stuck is the community. I love the way our athletes compete, cheer each other on and celebrate successes and failures together. The 6:15 class I attend and the 8:15 class I coach are like family.
